David Smith is a director at a leading retailer and he spent some time talking to us about his day job before moving onto to tell us about his work with Gideon’s International and the way people’s lives have been transformed by reading one of the Bibles the Gideons have place in a hotel or hospital.

When Brian Hendlesby spoke to us he let some of the students tell their story of lives transformed by Jesus. As always when Brian visits it was extremely challenging

Dave Bickerdike agreed to come at very short notice and gave us a concert of gospel songs. He was a very competent speaker and musician.

Both David and Andy need no introduction. David spoke to us about his business life and being a Christian, whilst Andy brought a word based upon the parable of the Prodigal Son.

All the breakfasts have been held at the Old Star Inn at Collingham, though the location may change in 2008.

On average about 20 men attend the breakfast, though we had 30 when Brian brought a large number of students from Teen Challenge Leeds with him.

The speakers have been excellent, though at times it has been a little stressful when late cancellations have been received. Fortunately no breakfast has been cancelled, though one was postponed for a month.

Whilst the last paragraph is factually accurate I cannot stress the opening five words of it enough: the speakers have been excellent.

I am very grateful for the support and assistance of Stephen, John and David for helping with ideas for speakers, and for Chris for recording most breakfasts. If you want to hear what you have been missing – get a CD!

I finished last year’s report with the following words, which I think are still applicable so I will end with them again:

Whilst I can facilitate the Men’s Breakfasts, it is up to all of us men to fully utilise these events. They are an excellent opportunity for our friends, relatives, neighbours and colleagues to hear a Gospel presentation in a relaxed and non-threatening environment.
