In the early 1980's a small group of mainly local people, began to meet
informally for worship in a home in Clifford. In November 1990 this
developed into a Sunday evening service. A few years later a full church
programme was up and running.
King's in affiliated to the Elim
Pentecostal movement: a mainline Pentecostal denomination which has
churches throughout the British Isles and in many parts of the world. It
is also related to "Bridge Street" - a large church in the
centre of Leeds.
Pentecostal churches tend to be noted for their friendliness, their
informality and emphasis on the continuing work of the Holy Spirit in
today's church. They are evangelical, which means that they accept the
bible's teaching and try, by God's help to live it.
